The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has warned motorists of traffic disruptions along Mombasa Road as construction works begin at the Cabanas-Eastern Bypass off-ramp.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

KeNHA on Thursday, September 10, announced that a section of Mombasa Road at the Cabanas-Eastern Bypass off-ramp, along the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA)-bound section, will be partially closed.

In a statement, the authority said the temporary closure will run from Thursday, September 17, to Thursday, October 22, 2026, to allow the construction of a box drain along the affected section.

According to KeNHA, motorists travelling towards JKIA from the Eastern Bypass will be directed through a designated diversion lane during the construction period.

📌 What You Need to Know

The authority sai d traffic marshals will be deployed to guide motorists and ensure that traffic flows with minimal disruption while the works are underway.

“Motorists intending to use Mombasa Road (JKIA-bound) from Eastern Bypass will use the provided diversion lane and follow the proposed directions by traffic marshals,” KeNHA stated.

Motorists have also been advised to follow the traffic management plan and cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals stationed at the site.

KeNHA said normal traffic operations along the affected road section will resume once the construction works are completed.

The latest closure comes as the authority continues to undertake maintenance and rehabilitation works along major roads across the country, particularly in Nairobi and its neighbouring counties.

Just four days ago, a KeNHA team assessed several road sections in Kiambu County to establish their condition, monitor ongoing maintenance works and identify areas requiring timely intervention.
