Videos captured by students have raised serious questions over the circumstances that led to the shooting of two Multimedia University students on Monday, June 8.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

The videos shared with  Kenyans.co.ke capture a series of events that show plain-clothed officers entering the university compound and opening fire in a bid to quell protests.

Footage shows at least two officers in civilian clothes running around the university with pistols and, according to witnesses, shooting at the students.

These officers were part of a battalion of police that raided the university, armed to the teeth with rifles and firing teargas at the students.

📌 What You Need to Know

What followed was chaos as police chased the students, with video capturing the officers firing inside hostels where students had been sheltering.

One clip shared by Vocal Africa captures one officer brandishing a gun at students while others clutch pistols.

In the aftermath of the mayhem, four students sustained gunshot injuries to the neck, head and back.

One student identified as Victor Kariuki has been admitted to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) awaiting surgery to remove a bullet lodged in his body.

“There were civilian police officers carrying pistols while those in uniform had AK-47 rifles. The officers with pistols were aiming directly at us, and that is when I was hit,” Kariuki told Citizen TV .

“Kariuki, the student who was shot in the back, was right in front of me. If the bullet had missed him, it would have hit me. I managed to run back to the hostel, but one of the officers later came to the balcony and tried to aim at where we were hiding,” narrated another student.
