In an update shared with this publication, former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo said the development followed pressure from advocates and activists calling for their immediate arraignment.
Legal representatives have reportedly been placed on standby to offer pro bono representation to those arraigned.
“In accordance with their right to a fair trial, we agitated for their arraignment in Court without undue delay. The 74 will be presented before the Magistrates Court in Milimani later today, where a team of Advocates are on standby to represent them pro bono,” Odhiambo said.

In addition, she called on advocates available around Kibra and Makadara Law Courts to offer their services where needed.
Odhiambo said lawyers should be prepared to offer legal assistance in case additional detainees from other police stations are presented in those courts.
This comes after Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen issued a security update on Thursday, reporting that 355 people had been arrested nationwide in connection with the demonstrations, with Nairobi recording the highest number at 161.
According to the report, Kajiado recorded 123 arrests, followed by Kiambu with 36, Murang’a with 12, Bungoma with nine, Meru with six, Laikipia with five and Machakos with three.
The security briefing revealed that no arrests were reported in the North Eastern, Nyanza and Coast regions during the demonstrations.
Murkomen explained that those arrested would face various charges, including robbery, vandalism, road obstruction and attempted theft.
