Three political parties linked to Caleb Amisi, Mike Sonko and Bishop Margaret Wanjiru have announced changes to their leadership and party structures ahead of the 2027 General Election.
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
The changes were published in the Kenya Gazette on October 9, 2026, and affect the People’s Renaissance Movement (PM), Sonko’s National Economic Development Party (NEDP) and the Kenya Moja Movement Party.
PM is seeking to amend its constitution and move its headquarters from River Bank Court in Kileleshwa to Riara Gardens, off Riara Road, in Lavington, Nairobi.
The party has also listed Antony Samba Buluma as Secretary General, Teddy Ngumbao Mwambire as National Chairperson, Jean Njeri Njoroge as Organising Secretary and Geoffrey Shumanyula as Executive Director.
📌 What You Need to Know
The developments come months after Amisi launched PRM in August 2026 as he prepared the party for the next general election. The outfit has featured in discussions surrounding the Linda Mwananchi movement, whose supporters have faced challenges registering their preferred political vehicle.
PM had offered the movement a possible platform for political participation ahead of the 2027 elections. However, Linda Mwananchi leaders have since launched the Equitable Party, which they later intend to rebrand.
Meanwhile, NEDP has listed its party leader position as vacant, alongside several deputy leadership positions. These changes could possibly see Sonko handed a senior leadership role within the party structures.
Sonko presented himself as the party leader after NEDP received full registration in December 2025 . However, the latest notice does not clarify whether he has formally relinquished the position, following internal party disputes reported in 2026.
The party has previously taken disciplinary action against some officials, including suspending former Secretary General Ben Mulwa before naming Oyieyo to an acting secretarial role. In June 2026, NEDP also suspended Executive Director Daniel Onsomu and sought his removal as a bank signatory.
In a separate notice, the Kenya Moja Movement Party listed Bishop Margaret Wanjiru as its party leader, replacing her son, Steven Kariuki.
