Bolt has added motorbikes to its Send parcel delivery service in Mombasa, giving individuals and businesses another option for moving small packages across the city.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

The service is designed for small retailers, online sellers, restaurants, pharmacies, offices, and individuals who need to make short-distance or time-sensitive deliveries.

Customers can request Bolt. Send through the Bolt app, receive an upfront price estimate, and track their parcel in real time.

Parcels are transported by eligible Bolt driver-partners, allowing businesses to make deliveries without maintaining their own delivery fleets.

📌 What You Need to Know

The move comes as Mombasa has an established motorcycle transport network, with approximately 20,000 boda boda, or public service vehicle, riders operating across the county's six sub-counties.

Bolt currently has more than 1,000 active riders across Mombasa earning a living through the platform each week.

The company said adding motorbikes to Send will give eligible motorcycle partners another opportunity to earn from parcel deliveries alongside other services available on the platform .

Bolt said the addition of motorbikes is also aimed at helping small parcels move through Mombasa's traffic more easily and reach locations that may be less accessible to larger vehicles.

“The addition of motorbikes is intended to address a practical gap in urban delivery where small parcels do not always need a car, but they do need a reliable way to move through the city without adding unnecessary time or cost,” Bolt told Kenyans.co.ke .

The service can be used by retailers delivering orders to customers, businesses moving documents between offices, and online sellers fulfilling orders without their own delivery teams.
