Britam officially launched its much-anticipated Britam Trust Services on Wednesday, June 17, providing Kenyans with the opportunity to influence, transfer, and preserve their wealth across generations.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

Under the new solution, Britam is offering Kenyans an avenue to control assets through the Britam Cash Trust and Britam Family Trust, also referred to as the Britam Private Trust.

A trust is a legal arrangement that allows assets to be managed on behalf of beneficiaries, helping preserve wealth, protect loved ones and ensure property is transferred according to the owner's wishes.

Speaking during the launch, Britam Trust Manager Susan Mathenge explained that Britam Cash Trust enables funds to be set aside for specific needs of one’s chosen beneficiary, such as education, healthcare, and sustenance.

📌 What You Need to Know

The Britam Family Trust, on the other hand, holds a wider range of assets, including property, investments, businesses and cash.

“Our role is to help our customers protect what they have worked hard to build, preserve it with intention, and pass it on with clarity and purpose,” said Britam Group Managing Director and CEO Tom Gitogo.

According to Mathenge, Britam Trust Services are designed to provide a structured way for individuals and families to manage assets in line with their wishes, both during their lifetime and beyond.

The solution also helps organisations efficiently and professionally manage employee benefits, such as pensions and group life cover, that become payable to beneficiaries under 18 after an employee's death.

“As Britam, we don’t tell you these are the terms and conditions. You come and tell us this is what I want my trust to do, and we create something unique for each individual,” Mathenge explained.

According to Britam, individuals can start with as little as Ksh5,000 and gradually grow their fund under the Britam Cash Trust. Individuals can top up any amount at any time.
