Kumbe the Gachagua impeachment case is now so serious that the High Court is literally broke and hiring ceremony halls just to fit everyone? Sawa, the plot thickens — the judge just dropped bombs about court delays, missing judges' schedules, AND (this is the wild part) the bench having to PAY for space in its own courthouse.

The Plot Twist Nobody Expected

Listen, aki, we thought we'd seen everything with the Gachagua drama, but Friday's court session just revealed something that has Kenyans side-eyeing the entire justice system. Justice Eric Ogolla literally told everyone that if they skip Friday's hearing, the case pushes to September or October 2026. Bana! That's over a year of waiting. And the reason? The judges' diaries are packed tighter than a matatu during rush hour.

But here's where it gets spicy — the judge actually disclosed that the court had to HIRE the ceremonial courtroom at Milimani Law Courts. Ndio, you heard that right. Not borrow. Not share. HIRE. The same courtroom the Supreme Court used during the 2022 presidential petition because regular courtrooms can't hold all the people interested in this case. The fact that a judge publicly mentioned this is unprecedented, lakini what does it really say about our justice system's resources, si uone?

Respondents Playing Hide and Seek

So on Friday, everybody who's supposed to argue decided to ghost the proceedings. The National Assembly's team (Eric Gumbo and Paul Nyamodi) said "hakuna matata, we're waiting for Wednesday." President Ruto's team also said "sisi pia, Wednesday works." Even the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission didn't get a chance to speak because the whole thing got adjourned faster than you can say "postponement."

Meanwhile, former Attorney General Githu Muigai came through with the big legal argument — that the High Court has no jurisdiction to hear Gachagua's petition at all. If he's right, this whole thing could collapse like a house of cards. But we won't know until Wednesday, when they're also expecting to argue about whether Gachagua's doctor's affidavit should even be allowed. It's layers upon layers, bana.

🗣️ What Kenya Is Saying

"So our courts are hiring venues in their own buildings?" — Twitter user @KenyaWatcher, speaking what everyone's thinking about the financial reality check the judge just gave.

"This case will reach 2027 at this rate." — Legal analyst on radio, expressing the frustration about continuous adjournments that could stretch this into the next presidential election cycle.

The Jukwaa Take: The Gachagua impeachment case just exposed that our court system is struggling harder than a struggling startup — hiring space in its own house, judges juggling calendars like they're overbooked Uber drivers, and respondents playing chess while justice waits on the sidelines.
