An Eldoret court has ordered police to hold five suspects, including a couple, for 14 days as detectives investigate the murder of a hotel manager in Uasin Gishu County.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

Eldoret Resident Magistrate Naima Chelagat issued the order after police asked for more time to complete investigations into the killing.

The five suspects were arrested after detectives traced them to a homestead in the Kipkorgot area of Ainabkoi Sub-County, where investigators believe the hotel manager may have been assaulted before his death.

Police told the court that they require more time to establish what happened before and after the victim's death and to determine whether other people were involved in the incident.

📌 What You Need to Know

According to police reports, the alleged killing happened on the night of August 6, 2026 , in the Kipkorgot area. The hotel manager's body was discovered the following morning near Kipkorgot Centre, a few yards from his white Toyota Axio.

Additionally, the police said the vehicle had been parked about 150 metres away along the Eldoret-Kaptagat road, while investigators believe the victim had been beaten at or near a nearby homestead before his body was moved.

The suspected crime scene is a homestead in Kipkorgot where detectives reported finding bloodstains on the veranda of the main house. Investigators are treating the finding as a possible link to the circumstances surrounding the death.

Police further allege that the victim's body was moved from the homestead and left near Kipkorgot Centre, where it was later discovered.

Investigating Officer Eric Ruto asked the court for 14 days to recover the suspected murder weapon, arrest possible accomplices and record statements from witnesses.

Detectives also want to obtain communication data and take blood samples to the Government Chemist for forensic analysis. Mental status assessments of the suspects are also expected to form part of the investigations.
