The comedian later found himself addressing Kagame in person during the Africa Mindset Reset Forum held in Kigali on August 24, where he explained that he had conducted research for the skit by speaking to people in Rwanda about their views of Kagame.

“I have actually done a skit regarding how Rwandan citizens relate with you as a President after doing a lot of research. When I was walking around the city, I asked a lot of people, and they told me, ‘We see our President as our father," he said.

He said he initially thought the responses might have been exaggerated until he witnessed Kagame handling a matter during the forum .

Kennar told Kagame that the experience helped him understand the relationship he had attempted to portray in his skit.

“I thought that was a joke until today, when I witnessed you solving a case here. So, Mr President, your people really love you,” he added.

During the exchange, the comedian also asked the Rwandan president for a selfie, saying he wanted the picture to show his father that his work had enabled him to meet the Rwandan leader.

“Lastly, Mr President, my father usually says that content can take people places . I just requested a selfie to show him that I met the President of Rwanda,” Kennar said.

“I will give you two,” Kagame responded, prompting a humorous exchange as the comedian approached him.
