Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has said the Mount Kenya region, particularly Mt Kenya East, will support President William Ruto's re-election bid in 2027 even if he drops Deputy President Kithure Kindiki as his running mate.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

Speaking during an interview on NTV on Monday, July 27, Ruku maintained that the region would rally behind Ruto's candidature regardless of whether Kindiki is retained on the 2027 ticket.

According to the CS, the choice of a running mate is the President's prerogative, adding that Kenya Kwanza supporters should respect Ruto's decision regardless of whom he picks for the election.

Even so, Ruku said he personally supports Kindiki's retention as DP, citing his performance as President Ruto's principal assistant, a role he argued the DP has executed exceptionally well.
