The Kenya Gazette has dropped with serious boardroom revamps across key parastatals, and several Cabinet Secretaries are wasting no time stamping their authority. From road safety enforcers at NTSA to the wildlife custodians at KWS, top-tier leadership has just seen fresh appointments and strategic contract extensions.
New Blood at NTSA as KWS Boss Retains His Crown
If you thought the new-look Cabinet was moving slow, think again. Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir has officially drafted Stephen Mutai into the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) Board for a solid three-year tour of duty. With road safety scrutiny at an all-time high, Mutai is stepping into an arena where Kenyans want instant results, not endless stakeholder meetings.
Over at the wildlife beat, Tourism and Wildlife CS Rebecca Miano decided that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. She handed Professor Erastus Mutembei Kanga a fresh three-year mandate to continue serving as the Director-General of the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS). Prof. Kanga keeps the wheel as KWS battles human-wildlife conflict and pushes aggressive conservation tech.
Murkomen and Mbadi Deal Their Power Cards
Meanwhile, Interior boss Kipchumba Murkomen made major moves by overhauling the Intelligence Service Complaints Board. In the latest gazetted changes, Joseph Gitonga Riungu takes the helm as Chairperson. He will steer the sensitive oversight organ alongside a notable lineup including businessman and former Homa Bay gubernatorial aspirant Samwel Owino Wakiaga, Lawrence Nyalle, Naema Ibrahim Somo, and Charity Kagwi Ndung’u.
At the National Treasury, CS John Mbadi went for institutional continuity. Mbadi renewed the terms of four key figures at the Public Procurement Regulatory Board (PPRB) — Patrick Kimemia Ndirangu, Lucy Chepkemoi, Amos Simiyu Makokha, and Ali Mohamed Haji. With public tenders remaining a hot-button issue in government, this regulatory team will have their hands full keeping procurement squeaky clean.
The Parastatal Sweep Continues
The sweeping changes didn't stop there. Multiple boards across state corporations woke up to gazetted changes, including the Railway Development Levy Fund Board (RDLF), where five new trustees landed seats. Professor Wanyama Musiambo also secured a three-year reappointment to chair the Board of Governors at Bukura Agricultural College.
Other agencies swept up in the ministerial gazette notices include the Technopolis Development Authority, National Labour Board, Pest Control Products Board, and the Street Families Rehabilitation Trust Fund. The broad-based government is clearly locking in its ground game across state agencies, reward cards are being cashed, and the machinery is officially running.
The Jukwaa Take: New gazette notices look shiny on paper, lakini Kenyans are tired of boardroom musical chairs — what we want to see is lower road carnage, protected national resources, and zero scandals in public procurement bana!
