Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has warned that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations is actively pursuing politicians allegedly mobilising goons ahead of Thursday, June 25, protests, while revealing several individuals have been apprehended.
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
According to Murkomen, a senior politician is being probed for allegedly paying goons to hijack the match that is set to commemorate youths killed during the 2024 anti-finance bill protests that turned deadly.
Speaking to the press at Harembee House on Wednesday evening, Murkomen said police intelligence reveals that youths are being mobilised from the Nairobi Metropolitan area to disrupt the match.
While he did not name names, Murkomen said a politician who warned Kenyans from protesting is behind the mobilization.
📌 What You Need to Know
The tactic, Murkomen says, is a calculated use of reverse psychology on the government meant to sue protesters to turn up, designed to create chaos, then point fingers at the government for it.
"That those who are insinuating that the government is working with goons, including those who apply reverse psychology, tried to blame the government and the police on matters of violence and to try to tell the public that tomorrow the government is going to plant goons," stated Murkomen.
