Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are pursuing a police inspector believed to have played a key role in the murder of psychologist Dr Victoria Mutiso, in what investigators now say was a carefully coordinated killing linked to a long-running land dispute.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

Speaking during a press briefing at Magereza House on Friday, DCI Director Mohamed Amin revealed that investigators had identified the inspector attached to Nderu Police Station in Kikuyu as the link between the financiers of the murder and the hitmen who carried out the attack.

According to Amin, a ballistic analysis of a gun recovered after the arrest of a second officer said to have been the shooter has found the gun belonged to the police inspector who is now on the run.

"Investigations have established that the elimination of Dr Mutiso was driven by a longstanding land civil dispute," Amin said, adding that detectives were pursuing additional suspects believed to have planned and facilitated the killing.

📌 What You Need to Know

The DCI also confirmed the arrest of two suspects, including a police officer, in connection with the fatal shooting.

Investigators said evidence placed the officer at the crime scene, while he is also being investigated over shots fired during the attack.
