Speaking during a public rally in Meru on June 28, 2026,  Kenyans.co.ke noted that the President said the projects are part of the Government’s broader plan to improve livelihoods, expand access to healthcare, and create more economic opportunities for residents.

Ruto announced that the government will construct 17 new modern markets in the county to boost business activities and support local traders. He also revealed that Ksh 50 million will be allocated for the construction of a stadium in Maua, directing local leaders to work with residents in planning the project to ensure it benefits the community.

He further announced that the Government had committed Ksh1 billion towards the construction of a Level 6 hospital in Meru town.

According to Ruto, the new hospital is intended to reduce the need for residents to travel to Nairobi for specialised treatment and improve access to quality healthcare within the county. He said the facility is expected to be completed and operational before December 2026.

“I do not want people of Meru travelling all the way to Nairobi for treatment. That is why we are building a Level 6 hospital here in Meru,” the President said.

Beyond infrastructure and healthcare , the President also stressed the importance of nurturing discipline and values among young people.

In a statement shared on his official X account, Ruto said investment in education must go hand in hand with building integrity, responsibility, and strong moral values.

“A nation may build magnificent schools, but if it neglects character, it builds its future on quicksand,” he stated.
