Drama unfolded in Westlands, Nairobi, on Thursday, September 10, after a city lawyer threatened to jump from the eighth floor while attempting to evade arrest.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

The incident occurred after detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) stormed the lawyer’s office over allegations of presenting forged documents before the Employment and Labour Relations Court.

The lawyer was arrested at his office in The Westery Building after the officers traced him following a directive by the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to have him charged.

According to the DCI, the lawyer had earlier been summoned to present himself at Parklands Police Station but allegedly ignored the directive, prompting officers to launch a manhunt for him.

📌 What You Need to Know

The arrest, however, turned dramatic when the lawyer allegedly threatened to jump from a window on the eighth floor of the building as officers moved in to apprehend him.

When officers eventually managed to arrest him, the suspect allegedly resisted being handcuffed and bit two police officers who were attempting to restrain him.

The DCI said the lawyer's arrest followed investigations into a complaint filed by three officials of the Kenya County Government Workers Union, Nairobi Branch.

The officials had raised concerns over documents presented by the lawyer in a case dating back to 2022, claiming that the lawyer had forged their signatures.

In the case, the suspect allegedly presented a Change of Signatory and Fee Note Agreement purporting to show that the three complainants had agreed to pay him Ksh150 million upon conclusion of a case in which he claimed to have represented them.

However, the three officials disputed signing the agreement, prompting investigators to submit the disputed documents alongside specimens of their known signatures to a forensic examiner for analysis.
