Drama unfolded in Kajiado County after a section of residents heckled Governor Joseph Ole Lenku during President William Ruto’s rally in Loitokitok.
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
Ole Lenku was forced to cut short his speech after residents were heard shouting and demanding that he stop speaking, prompting Ruto to intervene and plead with the crowd to allow the governor to finish.
“Please, please, just let the governor finish his speech, just give him a moment,” Ruto told the residents as the heckling continued.
The governor had barely begun his address when the disruption started , with some residents waving their hands and shouting as they demanded that he end his speech.
📌 What You Need to Know
“Your Excellency the President, today, we as the Kajiado residents are happy because of the development you have brought. Your development agenda, we support it so that Kenya can move forward,” Ole Lenku said before the interruptions intensified.
Despite the heckling, the governor appeared to hit back at his critics, insisting that the disruption would not intimidate him.
“The noise of 20 people does not scare us. This Kajiado is ours, and we are the ones to decide Kajiado’s political direction, and we have decided to back you,” he added.
Ruto then stepped in to calm the crowd , picking up the microphone before he went ahead to ask residents to allow the governor to complete his remarks.
The incident briefly shifted attention away from the President’s rally as residents continued expressing their displeasure during the governor’s address.
The disruption came as Ruto toured Kajiado County to popularise his development agenda and engage residents on ongoing government projects and other issues affecting the region.
