The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has dismissed social media claims alleging that it arrested a High Court advocate and other prominent individuals.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

The claims had circulated online, with posts suggesting that the said lawyer was arrested over alleged Ksh24.5 million bribery in an operation conducted by the anti-corruption agency.

However, through a formal statement obtained by Kenyans.co.ke on August 17, EACC said the reported operation did not take place, urging members of the public to treat the circulating information with caution.

" The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has noted social media posts claiming that it has today arrested an Advocate of the High Court and other prominent persons over alleged bribery," EACC stated.

📌 What You Need to Know

The circulating video also alleges that the main intention of the lump-sum bribe was for the lawyer to influence the Supreme Court on the impeachment cases for public officials.

Thus, EACC clarified that it had not arrested the lawyer or other prominent persons as alleged in the social media post, describing the claims as false and misleading, seeking to prevent the public from relying on unverified information about its activities.
