"The suspect is accused of using a forged Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate to secure employment at the OAG," it added.

EACC further established that the suspect has benefited from salaries amounting to over Ksh 5.8 million during her period of employment, which authorities now classify as fraudulent acquisition of public funds.   Following the completion of investigations, the case file was submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions, who approved multiple charges, including forgery, uttering a false document, and fraudulent acquisition of public property, before being released on a Ksh 50,000 cash bail awaiting arraignment in court.

The arrest forms part of a broader crackdown by the commission on fake certificates in the civil service, with EACC recently making several arrests attributed to the scandal.

A recent notable incident is the arrest and charging of a former Masinde Muliro University employe e, who was accused of forging academic certificates to secure public employment at the institution.

The suspect allegedly forged a Diploma certificate in Community Health Nursing from Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), a Nursing Certificate from the Nursing Council, and a KCSE certificate from Matende Secondary School.

The suspect was arrested and arraigned at the Kakamega Law Courts on May 12, where she faced multiple charges.
