Detectives from the Operations Support Unit (OSU) have arrested a former Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) special forces officer linked to alleged criminal activities in Nairobi’s Eastlands area.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

According to a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspect was arrested following a tip-off from members of the public.

Detectives are said to have tracked him to a hideout within the Kayole dumpsite area, in Embakasi, where he was apprehended during a targeted operation.

“Acting on a tip-off from alert members of the public, detectives launched a targeted operation that led to the arrest of the former KDF special forces officer at his hideout within the Kayole dumpsite area,” the DCI said.

📌 What You Need to Know

Police said the suspect later led officers to his residence, where a search uncovered several items believed to be government stores and military gear.

Among the items recovered were one round of 9mm ammunition, military shirts, military working dress, a smoke jacket, military trousers, a military bag, and a military jackknife.

The suspect was arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi, where he faced charges of being in possession of ammunition and government stores.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on a bond of Ksh1 million or an alternative cash bail of Ksh500,000, with the mention of the case set for June 2, 2026.

The incident comes just two months after a similar occurrence where DCI detectives arrested a KDF officer and five other suspects in a botched robbery in Kitengela, Kajiado County.

In a statement on March 26, 2026, detectives disclosed that the operation was triggered by credible intelligence received three days before, indicating that the suspects were planning to raid another KDF officer’s home.
