Fresh details have emerged on the orchestrated attack at All Saints' Cathedral in Nairobi, exposing a calculated plot involving a powerful politician, police officers, and hired goons.
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
Speaking during a discreet interview on Citizen TV on June 15, one of the men involved in the June 12 disruption has broken his silence, revealing that the operation was carefully planned a day before it unfolded at one of Nairobi's most iconic landmarks.
At the onset, the goon said they were initially recruited on Thursday evening with a promise of Ksh2,000 each to break up a political meeting linked to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in Nairobi's CBD.
“We were told that there was a meeting of the Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in Nairobi CBD. At the time, we were told that the quick job to disrupt the meeting would cost Ksh2,000,” stated the goon.
📌 What You Need to Know
Of essence is that each recruit was asked to show up with a motorbike, a detail that suggests the operation was designed to be fast, mobile, and difficult to trace back to whoever was giving the orders.
On the day of the attack, they were informed that it had been completely changed. The group was redirected to All Saints' Cathedral, where civil society members had gathered to discuss the 2026-2027 budget, with no prior notice of the change.
According to those involved, plainclothes police officers were embedded within the group and directed the operation on the ground, issuing instructions and coordinating movements.
The group had been assured there were no CCTV cameras at the venue, an assurance that crumbled the moment one of the recruits spotted a camera, triggering chaos within the group.
At that point, the police officers who had been part of the plan turned on them, denying any involvement and leaving the hired men exposed and scrambling to escape the scene on their own.
“When we were heading to the destination, we were diverted to the All Saints’ Cathedral Church, where the police were with whom we were together in the ploy, instructed us to park the motorbikes outside,” stated the recruit.
