The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader will be traversing five key U.S. cities during his visit from Wednesday, August 26, to plan for the 2027 election roadmap.
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
The former Deputy President is set to leave the country this evening and will be accompanied by his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, as he embarks on what has been described as an extended stay away from home.
From the itinerary documents obtained by Kenyans.co.ke on August 26, his first stop will be Spokane, Washington, where he is expected to spend six days from September 4 to September 10, engaging the diaspora.
From there, he heads to Portland, Oregon, a city long associated with progressive politics and civil rights activism, for a six-day engagement running September 10 to 16.
📌 What You Need to Know
Kansas comes next, a state with deep roots in America's political history tied to the pre-Civil War struggle over slavery, hosting him for eight days from September 16 to 24.
Gachagua will then proceed to Dallas, Texas, for another eight-day stretch between September 24 and October 1, though specific venues remain under wraps.
His tour wraps up in Boston, Massachusetts, from October 1 to 9, where he is expected to hold his final diaspora engagements before heading back home.
Gachagua explained on Sunday that the extended trip gives him room to make political decisions away from what he called external influence back home, a sentiment he first shared during a church service.
He assured supporters that he would remain reachable, telling them his team has been cleared to contact him should urgent matters arise while he is away.
Before his departure, the former DP will be having his last rallies in Kiambu County, and has since urged the security apparatus to be on high alert, owing to the bitter history of violence while traversing the area, especially Kikuyu, since the last rally saw his convoy, as well as that of the other opposition leaders, attacked, with several injuries reported.
