The Chief of Staff and the Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, has raised concerns over reports of conflict involving some key government institutions.
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
Koskei on Wednesday, June 17, warned that inter-agency conflicts are undermining service delivery and have contributed to the slow implementation of key government programmes.
Speaking at the opening of the Inaugural Productivity and Performance Conference 2026, he called for greater collaboration among public institutions to eliminate role duplication and improve efficiency in government operations.
Koskei stressed that government entities must prioritise cooperation over competition if they are to serve citizens and achieve national development goals effectively.
📌 What You Need to Know
According to the Head of Public Service, government institutions should at all times embrace dialogue whenever disputes arise instead of engaging in prolonged conflicts.
"We should not be having a scenario where government institutions are fighting each other, which derails service delivery. Where there are overlaps or misunderstandings, we should engage and amicably resolve the issues," said Koskei.
His remarks come amid increasing concerns over conflicts and overlapping mandates among state agencies, which have often resulted in delays and inefficiencies in service delivery.
Koskei further challenged public sector leaders to identify practical ways of boosting productivity while maintaining fiscal discipline, especially at a time when demand for quality services continues to grow.
The conference also provided a platform for discussions on performance improvement, accountability and innovation within the public sector.
PSC Chairperson Francis Meja emphasised the need for continuous investment in public servants through training, skills development and institutional capacity building.
