Police in Lolgorian, Trans Mara South Sub-county, have shot dead two suspected armed gangsters following a dramatic early morning chase and fierce exchange of gunfire during a security operation targeting criminal gangs in the area.
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
The Saturday, May 16, operation, which was led by a special police unit, also left one suspect on the run with serious gunshot injuries as police intensified a manhunt for the fugitive believed to be hiding within the region.
Trans Mara Sub-county Police Commander Eric Telewa confirmed the incident, saying the suspects had been linked to a series of armed robberies that have recently terrorised residents and business owners in the area.
According to police, the operation was launched after security officers received intelligence reports from members of the public regarding the movements of the suspected gang.

“This morning, acting on a tip-off from locals, we conducted an intelligence-led operation on the gang that residents have complained has been terrorising them,” Telewa said.
The commander revealed that officers intercepted the three suspects while they were riding on a motorcycle before a dramatic chase ensued, culminating in a heavy exchange of gunfire between the suspects and police officers.
“We came across the three of them this morning while riding on a motorcycle. They were gunned down following a chase and an exchange of fire. One of them, however, escaped and is currently on the run,” he added.
During the operation, one police officer sustained a gunshot wound to the foot amid the fierce confrontation that sent loud gunfire echoes across the village, forcing frightened residents to take cover.
Police confirmed that the injured officer was rushed to Tenwek Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
Security officers recovered an AK-47 rifle believed to have been used in multiple criminal incidents across the region, with police linking the weapon to past robberies and fatal attacks targeting traders and residents.
