The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has issued fresh guidance to students experiencing difficulties activating their accounts on the Higher Education Financing (HEF) Portal.
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
In a notice posted on Wednesday, August 5, HELB noted that the activation email is generated automatically immediately after a student completes the registration process using their personal email address.
The board advised applicants to first check their spam or junk email folders if the activation message is not immediately visible in their inbox.
HELB cautioned students that the activation link remains valid for only three hours from the time it is issued.
📌 What You Need to Know
Students who fail to activate their accounts within that period have been instructed to register afresh on the HEF Portal to receive a new activation email.
“Kindly proceed to register afresh on the portal and ensure to click on the activation link under your inbox, spam or junk folder within 3 hours before it expires,” HELB wrote.
HELB urged applicants to complete the verification process promptly once the email is received to avoid delays in accessing their student dashboard.
In addition, HELB is providing support through its official social media platforms and communication channels, encouraging students experiencing account-related issues to contact the board directly.
However, the agency has warned applicants to ensure they are engaging only with its verified accounts, noting that fraudulent pages and public forums have emerged to take advantage of the application period .
Students have also been advised against sharing personal information publicly and instead submit sensitive details through HELB’s official direct messaging channels.
