Hundreds of students under the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) have received fresh relief after the High Court dismissed an objection filed by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) against the institution seeking to halt its operations.
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
In a public notice issued on Thursday, July 9, KIM said the ruling allows the institution to continue operating under existing court orders.
“We wish to inform you that the High Court has today dismissed the objection filed by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority against the Institute,” the notice stated.
KIM said it will continue serving students while complying with the court’s directives as the case continues before the courts.
📌 What You Need to Know
“We wish to assure our stakeholders that we remain committed to serving them and will continue to operate in accordance with the Court’s directives as the matter proceeds through the judicial process,” the notice added.
Additionally, the institute said that further updates would be communicated through its official channels.
The latest ruling marks another development in the legal dispute that began after TVETA revoked KIM’s accreditation and ordered the closure of all its campuses on April 20.
The regulator had accused the KIM of offering and awarding academic and professional programmes without the necessary accreditation.
TVETA also declared that certificates issued by the institution after 2018 would not be recognised for employment, further education or professional advancement.
However, the High Court later suspended the implementation of the revocation after certifying KIM’s application for judicial review as urgent.
