The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has appointed Ruth Kulundu as acting Chief Executive Officer following the end of Moses Sunkuli's six-month term.

In an internal memo dated August 4, 2026, IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon announced that Kulundu would officially assume the role on Wednesday, August 5, to ensure continuity at the electoral body.

According to the memo addressed to all IEBC staff, Kulundu will serve in the acting capacity for two months or until the recruitment and appointment of a substantive CEO.
