📌 What You Need to Know
According to the Electoral Commission, the constituency had 73,480 registered voters, with 41,656 ballots cast, translating to a 57 per cent voter turnout.
Waweru's victory hands DCP a major political boost in Nyandarua County, with the contest widely viewed as a battle for supremacy between former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's camp and President William Ruto's UDA party.
The by-election attracted national attention as senior leaders from both DCP and UDA campaigned aggressively for their respective candidates, turning the race into one of the country's most closely followed political contests this year.
Following the conclusion of vote tallying, Waweru emerged victorious over Nyagah, securing the parliamentary seat that fell vacant after the death of former MP David Njuguna Kiaraho.
In a statement after announcing the results, the Commission thanked voters, candidates, political parties, election officials , security agencies, observers and the media for contributing to what it described as a peaceful and orderly electoral process.
"We thank the voters of Ol Kalou Constituency, candidates, political parties, election officials, security agencies, observers, the media and all stakeholders for contributing to a peaceful and orderly electoral process," the Commission announced.
