The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has opened tenders for the supply of election gear ahead of the 2027 elections.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

Through a tender notice seen by  Kenyans.co.ke on August 11, IEBC has invited eligible bidders to supply, install, test, commission, and maintain the Kenya Integrated Elections Management System (KIEMS), along with its hardware and accessories.

This tender in particular, numbered  IEBC/OIT/01/2026-2027 , closes on September 1 for an election with projected a total of 28.5 million voters.

“The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) invites tenders from interested eligible bidders for the supply, delivery, installation, testing, commissioning, support and maintenance of the Integrated Elections Management System (IEMS), hardware equipment and accessories until 1st September, 2026 at 10am East African Time,” IEBC stated.

📌 What You Need to Know

On the other hand, IEBC has also called for the supply and delivery of ballot papers, tactile folders, the register of voters, and statutory election result declaration forms.

Due to a profound domestic "trust deficit" among competitive political factions, IEBC designs its physical ballots to be structurally more complex and secure than its banknotes.

Kenya's ballot papers are universally distinguished by their hyper-secure, currency-grade manufacturing, featuring more than 11 individual security dimensions to aggressively combat duplication, counterfeiting, and ballot-stuffing.

According to the electoral body, interested bidders are urged to access detailed tender documents at IEBC's Procurement office in Anniversary Towers, fifth floor, room 514, during official working hours.

Alternatively, the documents can be downloaded free of charge from the IEBC website at  www.iebc.or.ke or the Public Procurement Information Portal at  tenders.go.ke.

The basic requirement in these bids is that anyone who downloads the documents is required to send their details to the commission's procurement email so they can receive clarifications and any updates in good time.
