🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

In a confidential notice seen by  Kenyans.co.ke  on June 10, the changes, approved by the National Police Service Board, are to take effect immediately.

Tonui, who holds the Head of State Commendation honour, moves from the Directorate of Operations within the Kenya Police Service to helm the powerful GSU.

His predecessor at the GSU, AIG Fredrick Egesa Nyongesa, does not leave the unit entirely but steps into the role of Deputy Commandant of the GSU.
