Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta's office has dismissed a viral statement circulating online claiming Uhuru has rejected repeated requests to meet former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
The statement, which has since been labelled as 'FAKE' alleged that Gachagua has been pushing for a meeting to no avail.
The spokesperson of the office of the Fourth President, Kanze Dena, said the statement is 'FAKE'.
The fake statement obtained by Kenyans.co.ke on August 12, bearing the name and branding of the Office of the Fourth President, claimed several requests had been made through intermediaries seeking a meeting between the two leaders.
📌 What You Need to Know
It further stated that Uhuru had carefully considered the requests but declined them, adding that no meeting had taken place or been scheduled.
" It is confirmed that such requests have been received, on more than one occasion, through various intermediaries. It is equally confirmed that H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta has considered these requests carefully and has declined them," the fake statement stated in part.
The statement also attributed strong criticism of Gachagua to the retired President, alleging that his political conduct had created difficulties in maintaining relationships with allies.
It claimed Uhuru viewed Gachagua’s approach to political relationships as unsuitable for collaborative national leadership and said a meeting would not be productive.
The statement further suggested that Uhuru had concerns over what it described as Gachagua’s repeated antagonism of political partners and public humiliation of allies.
It also alleged that the former Deputy President struggled to maintain working relationships without turning disagreements into political conflicts, according to the disputed statement.
