Katsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Umar Radda, has declared that his administration will henceforth rely more on credible data and evidence in planning, budgeting and implementing development programmes across the state.
🇳🇬 Here's What Happened
He stated this on Thursday in Katsina while launching the Katsina State Development Plan, State Social Protection Policy, Multi-Sectoral Strategic Plan of Action for Food and Nutrition, State Nutrition Policy, General Household Survey Report and Statistical Yearbook, implemented by the state Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning through the Bureau of Statistics.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Faruk Jobe, said the documents represented more than policy publications, describing them as instruments that would shape the state’s development trajectory and improve the welfare of its citizens.
According to him, “Today’s event is far more than a ceremonial unveiling of documents. It is a public declaration of our administration’s commitment to planning with purpose, governing with evidence, and delivering development that is inclusive, measurable and sustainable.
📌 Key Details
“Without reliable data, planning becomes speculative. Without planning, development becomes accidental. Our administration has therefore made data and planning central pillars of governance.”
Radda explained that the Katsina State Development Plan would serve as a strategic blueprint for transforming the state’s economy and improving the living conditions of its people.
He said the plan identified priority areas, including agriculture, education, healthcare, infrastructure, industrialisation, environmental sustainability, digital innovation, security, governance and youth empowerment.
The governor added that the plan was aligned with the administration’s Building Your Future (BYF) policy framework, the Katsina State Economic Development Strategy, national development frameworks, the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals.
On security, Radda said the situation had improved considerably in many parts of the state through collaboration among the government, security agencies, traditional institutions and local communities.
“As a result, many of our farmers have returned to their farms, agricultural activities have resumed in several previously affected areas, and economic and social life is gradually being restored,” he said.
