EACC confirmed on Friday, May 29, that the Kenya Power employee allegedly demanded a Ksh30,000 bribe so as to reconnect the electricity that the utility company had disconnected two days earlier.
During the arrest, the anti-graft agency also nabbed an accomplice linked to the bribery scheme, while revealing that the Kenya Power employee is attached to KPLC’s Donholm office.
"The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a Kenya Power employee and an accomplice for allegedly soliciting and receiving a bribe to reconnect electricity to a residential property," the commission confirmed.

According to the commission, the arrest followed a complaint lodged on Thursday, May 28, by a resident whose electricity supply had reportedly been disconnected.
"The arrest followed a complaint lodged with the Commission on May 28, 2026, by a resident whose electricity had been disconnected two days earlier," it added.
Sources close to the investigations revealed that detectives mounted an operation after receiving the complaint, enabling them to monitor and document interactions between the complainant and the suspects.
The suspects were later escorted to the Integrity Centre in Nairobi for processing, even as investigations into the matter intensify.
The arrests come amid growing concerns over bribery allegations involving power technicians accused of demanding bribes to reconnect electricity previously disconnected by the company.
Weeks earlier, another employee of the utility company was arrested in Vihiga for demanding a Ksh20,000 bribe for power reconnection.
