Kenya Power has warned job seekers against a fake recruitment notice circulating online claiming the company is hiring for hundreds of positions across the country.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 15, the electricity distributor said the document is false and urged job seekers to be cautious of fraudsters posing as recruiters.

Kenya Power said all genuine job vacancies are advertised through the careers page on its official website and advised applicants to verify recruitment information before applying.

“Fake job alert: Beware of conmen posing as recruiters. Kenya Power only advertises job vacancies on our official Careers page: kplc.co.ke/careers/,” the statement read.

📌 What You Need to Know

Additionally, the statement warned members of the public against paying money to anyone promising employment opportunities at the company.

The fake notice claimed that Kenya Power is recruiting for over 220 positions, including maintenance technicians, electrical technicians, financial accountants, customer care staff, store managers, data entry clerks and cleaners.

The document further directed applicants to send their applications through an email address that is not associated with the company’s official communication channels.

Kenya Power urged members of the public to report suspicious recruitment messages and avoid sharing personal information with unverified contacts.

The company’s alert seeks to prevent members of the public from falling victim to employment scams amid reports of financial losses linked to such fraudulent activity.

Kenya Power has not announced any recent mass recruitment drive, although the company has listed industrial attachment opportunities for the May-July and September-November intakes on its website.
