In a notice on Tuesday, August 25, Kenya Railways warned the members of the public to disregard the notice, noting that it did not originate from them.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

The company urged job seekers to exercise caution when responding to employment opportunities purportedly issued by Kenya Railways, warning members of the public against falling victim to fraudulent recruitment schemes.

"We strongly advise job seekers to be cautious and verify any job adverts through our website: www.krc.co.ke ," it added.

The warning comes after an advert listing numerous vacancies at the corporation, i ncluding positions in sales and marketing, passenger services, information services , transport operations, security, driving, mechanical services, and other departments, began circulating online.

📌 What You Need to Know

The advert purported to invite applications for various positions across the country and gave August 30, 2026, as the application deadline.

However, Kenya Railways has disowned the advert, confirming that it is fake.

According to the company, it is currently seeking applications for two senior positions, including quality assurance and risk coordination manager, as well as signaling, electrical, and communications manager, to help with operations.

The clarification comes as construction of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) extension to the Malaba border through Kisumu steadily gathers pace, with works already underway.

Phases 2B and 2C of the project, whose construction has commenced, will pass through nine counties,  including Narok, Bomet, Nyamira, Kericho, and Kisumu .

The Ksh700 billion project construction commenced in July 2026, with the SGR expected to reach Kisumu in July 2027.
