The summit, scheduled for October 22 and 23, will bring together Heads of State, senior government officials, business leaders, civil society organisations, academics, media representatives and young people from across the world.

Convened by a local university in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, the meeting will focus on what organisers describe as a growing global crisis of trust affecting governments, public institutions, the media, businesses and digital platforms.

According to the organisers, the summit seeks to create practical solutions for restoring confidence between citizens and the institutions that serve them through dialogue, collaboration and policy reforms.

Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi said Kenya was taking a leading role in efforts to strengthen trust in public institutions at a time when misinformation and declining public confidence have become major global challenges.

"Kenya has taken the bold decision to convene the Global Trust Summit in Nairobi from October 22 and 23 2026. This Summit is not another international conference. It is a strategic diplomatic and governance initiative," Mudavadi said.

He noted that the summit aligns with Kenya's commitment to advancing transparency, accountability and effective governance while positioning the country as a leader in conversations on democratic reforms.

Mudavadi said trust remains the foundation of strong institutions, stable democracies and prosperous economies, adding that governments must strengthen openness and integrity to earn public confidence .

The summit will also focus on strengthening information integrity, democratic institutions, intergenerational governance, trust as an economic asset, and the future of multilateralism and international cooperation.

Ahead of the October meeting, the State Department for Foreign Affairs has begun consultations with more than 20 Kenyan regulatory institutions to develop reforms and commitments that will be presented during the summit.
