However, the ministry explained that a travel declaration will remain a mandatory administrative and security requirement despite the visa waiver.
Travelers will still be required to complete an online travel declaration through the Togo government’s website at least 24 hours before arrival in order to obtain a travel document for border clearance.
In addition, the ministry warned that travellers entering Togo must still comply with all immigration, security and public health requirements applicable at entry points .
The government further cautioned that laws relating to irregular entry, illegal stay and national security measures would continue to apply under the new policy framework.
According to the ministry, the policy is aimed at promoting cooperation among African countries by enhancing the free movement of people and goods.
“This measure reflects the ongoing commitment of the highest Togolese authorities to promote African integration, strengthen the free movement of people and goods, and foster increased cooperation among the states and peoples of the continent,” the ministry wrote.
