The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) is set to roll out the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system across all its campuses, in compliance with a government-wide digital procurement directive.
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
The move, which was confirmed by the college on June 16, is part of a broader national rollout targeting Ministries, Departments, Agencies, State Corporations, and public institutions countrywide.
The system is designed to automate procurement processes, reduce paperwork, and improve how public institutions manage resources.
“The digital platform seeks to automate procurement processes, improve oversight, reduce procurement-related risks, and promote prudent management of public resources,” stated KMTC.
📌 What You Need to Know
KMTC kicked off the implementation through a five-day training held at its Kisumu Campus from June 15 to 19, 2026, bringing together Campus Principals from across the College.
“The Kenya Medical Training College ( KMTC ) has intensified capacity building on the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system, with Campus Principals undergoing training to strengthen accountability, transparency, and efficiency in procurement across the College,” stated KMTC.
The training marks a continuation of capacity-building efforts that KMTC launched in May 2026, preparing staff for the shift to the new digital platform.
The e-GP system is expected to streamline procurement, boost accountability, and significantly cut down on procurement-related risks across all KMTC campuses.
The system is an online platform developed by the National Treasury that digitises the entire public tendering process , allowing government agencies to procure goods, works, and services from private businesses digitally.
The government officially launched Phase I of the system in April 2025, making registration mandatory for all government suppliers as part of Kenya's Digital Superhighway Agenda to reduce fraud and cut public spending.
