The Kenya Revenue Authority has dismissed claims that its system is down, even as thousands of taxpayers rush to file their annual tax returns ahead of the June 30 timeline.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

Responding after multiple users reported difficulties in accessing the system, KRA maintained that the system is working seamlessly.

The authority advised affected users to try other browsers or retry after some time to file their returns.

“Kindly note that all our systems are working seamlessly. Kindly try using a different browser or give it some time before you can try again,” KRA stated.

📌 What You Need to Know

Despite the clarification, thousands of users have reported being unable to log in to the iTax portal, with some receiving countless error messages while attempting to access their accounts.

In instances where the PIN is found, sending the One Time Password (OTP) required before proceeding to file returns also became problematic.

Despite these reports, the tax authority has not indicated any system outage, reiterating that users should continue attempting to access the system.

The challenges come at a time when the agency has announced that it will not extend tax filing timelines beyond Tuesday, June 30.

In a statement obtained by   Kenyans.co.ke  on Saturday, June 27, KRA insisted that the statutory deadline remains unchanged despite growing concerns over technical challenges.

"KRA wishes to remind taxpayers that there will be no extension of the filing deadline. All returns must be submitted on or before June 30 2026 , in accordance with the law,"  the authority stated in the statement.
