The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has assured taxpayers that they can continue filing their annual tax returns despite concerns over missing Pay As You Earn (PAYE) entries in some tax accounts ahead of the June 30 filing deadline.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

The assurance comes after several taxpayers complained that PAYE records for November and December 2025 were not reflected in their iTax ledger accounts, raising fears that their tax returns could be affected.

“PAYE credits for the months of November and December 2025 are still missing from your general ledgers and are affecting most taxpayers. It's becoming an inconvenience,” lamented a taxpayer.

Responding to the concerns, KRA acknowledged that some PAYE entries are indeed missing and said it is working to correct the issue.

📌 What You Need to Know

"We acknowledge that some PAYE credits are missing for the months of November and December 2025. We are working to resolve the issue," KRA disclosed.

The tax authority, however, emphasised that the problem should not stop taxpayers from filing their annual tax returns before the set deadline.

KRA explained that once the affected ledger accounts are updated, the records will automatically balance and reflect the correct PAYE amounts.

The clarification comes as millions of Kenyans rush to file their annual income tax returns before the June 30 deadline to avoid penalties.

Many taxpayers have expressed concern that missing PAYE entries could lead to incorrect tax calculations or create complications during the filing process.

The revelation has sparked fresh debate over whether KRA should extend the tax filing deadline to give affected taxpayers adequate time to reconcile their records.
