The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has moved to explain why several high-demand courses are missing on the application system after opening a course revision window ahead of the September intake.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

In a statement on Saturday, May 16, KUCCPS says the system automatically removed the courses from the portal after all the available slots were taken during the first application phase that closed on May 6.

According to the placement body, the removal was to prevent students from selecting programmes that have no remaining capacity.

Among the programmes affected are Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Engineering, courses that traditionally attract the highest number of applicants.

📌 What You Need to Know

"Some degree programmes such as Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Engineering, among others, were filled in the first application due to high demand as compared to available spaces in the programmes. Hence, they have been removed from the portal," KUCCPS stated.

"We encourage students who applied for these programmes but missed them due to competition to apply for available programmes," it added.

The clarification came after students lamented the removal of the courses in the current revision window, with many questioning why they were not available.

But university courses are not the only ones removed from the portal. Users who are applying for the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) courses also complained of a lack of some high-demand courses on the portal.

"Why is Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing missing from the KMTC  options?" one student asked.

In response, KUCCPS noted that the courses were among those that were removed due to high demand, but would be available in the next application window for the September intake.
