Thousands of 2025 KCSE candidates have been handed a second chance to secure university placement after the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) reopened its application portal for fresh applications and course revisions.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

In a notice issued on Saturday, May 16, KUCCPS announced that the portal will remain open until May 22, giving students who failed to secure placement during the first application window another opportunity to apply for available degree programmes.

The placement agency revealed that applicants who secured provisional placement into degree courses have already been notified through SMS messages and updates on the KUCCPS student portal.

At the same time, students who were unsuccessful in the first application phase have been invited to revise their course selections and apply for programmes that still have available slots.

📌 What You Need to Know

“We call upon all 2025 Form Four leavers who qualified for degree programmes but have not applied for placement, and those who applied but have not secured a course, to log into the system and apply again,” said KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Dr Agnes Mercy Wahome.

Even so, KUCCPS has cautioned candidates who already received SMS notifications confirming provisional placement into degree courses against submitting fresh applications during the ongoing revision window.

According to notifications sent to candidates and seen by Kenyans.co.ke , the students have been advised to remain patient until July 2026, when KUCCPS will officially communicate details of their university and course placements.

“Dear Candidate, You have secured a provisional placement in one of the degree courses you selected. Details of the course and university will be communicated in July 2026. Please do not attempt to apply again,” read part of the message sent to applicants.

According to KUCCPS, a total of 212,510 students who attained a mean grade of C+ and above in the 2025 KCSE examinations have so far applied for various courses.

The figure represents 79.1 per cent of the 268,714 Kenyan students who qualified for university admission after attaining the minimum university entry grade .
