In a notice on Sunday, May 17, KURA stated that the closure is to allow for the final asphalt works of the Ngong/Naivasha road flyover.
According to the authority, the affected stretch will be partially closed from Monday, May 18, to Sunday, May 31, with the closure taking effect every night from 8 PM to 4 AM the next morning.
"We wish to notify the general public that section of Ngong Road / Naivasha Road at the Junction Mall will be partially closed as from Monday 18th, May 2026 till Sunday 31st, May 2026 both days inclusive. The closing will be carried as from 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM," KURA stated.
📌 What You Need to Know
"This is to allow the contractor to undertake the Asphalt works as part of the final finishing works," it added.
KURA explained that the works are part of the final finishing phase of ongoing road improvements aimed at enhancing traffic flow and urban mobility along the busy corridor.
It is worth noting that near Junction Mall, the authority has constructed an 800-meter flyover with a 254-meter steel structure designed to bypass the traditional bottleneck at the Junction Mall roundabout.
It is a Ksh 3.58 billion elevated dual-carriageway designed to ease severe traffic congestion along the key economic corridor in Nairobi.
It is approximately 90 percent complete and is set to be operational soon, ahead of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is set to be played at Talanta Stadium.
In this regard, and as the project enters its final phase, the authority said the temporary closure is necessary to allow contractors to complete the final asphalt works.
