🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), in an official statement shared with Kenyans.co.ke on October 6, stated the 23-year-old man was traced to a hideout in Lagwenda village, Kuresoi North, where he had been lying low since the killing.
Detectives from Molo carried out the operation alongside officers from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB), based at the Regional Criminal Investigations Headquarters in Rift Valley.
“A murder suspect who went on the run after the brutal killing of a Form Four student in Molo has been arrested, following a sustained manhunt by detectives,” DCI confirmed.
📌 What You Need to Know
According to the DCI, the joint team closed in on the hideout and flushed him out, putting a halt to a search that began after the student’s body was found.
At the time of his arrest, he was reportedly wearing blood-stained boxer shorts, a white T-shirt and black jeans that had visible dry blood stains on them.
Detectives also noted that the white T-shirt had the name of the late student's name written on its hem, according to the statement released after the arrest.
“When the long arm of the law finally caught up with him, Kipkoech was wearing a blood-stained boxer, a white T-shirt bearing the deceased’s name at the hem, and black jeans with visible dry blood stains,” DCI added.
He was then escorted to Molo Police Station, where he is being processed ahead of his arraignment in court as detectives continue piecing together what happened.
Preliminary investigations established the suspect was the student's boyfriend, and detectives are pursuing a possible relationship dispute as the motive behind the killing.
