The National Land Commission (NLC) has opened a fresh land acquisition exercise affecting dozens of families along the Illasit-Njukini-Taveta road corridor in Kajiado and Taita Taveta counties.
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
This follows Gazette Notice dated June 12, 2026, alongside an addendum referencing an earlier notice issued for the same massive road project.
“The National Land Commission calls upon persons who have an interest or claim in the land shown in the schedule here below, which the Commission intends to compulsorily acquire for purposes of the Construction of Illasit-Njukini–Taveta Road Project, to appear before the Commission in person on the date and place shown,” stated the notice.
More than twenty parcels of land estimated to stretch 3.1245 Ha have been listed for compulsory acquisition, with affected owners required to appear before the Commission for inquiries.
📌 What You Need to Know
These sessions will run over three days, starting at the Rombo Chief's Office on Tuesday, July 7, beginning at 10am sharp.
The following day, the inquiry shifts to the Njukini Chief's Office, where a much longer list of plots will be reviewed.
A third session at the same Njukini venue follows on Thursday, July 9, also kicking off at 10am.
Several parcels remain marked as TBD (To Be Determined), meaning the Commission has yet to confirm who actually owns that particular piece of land.
Anyone with an interest in the listed parcels must submit a written compensation claim before their scheduled inquiry date arrives.
Required documents include a national ID copy, KRA PIN, land ownership papers, and bank account details for compensation processing.
