Huduma Kenya has announced mass enrollment of smart driver’s licenses in Kimilili, Bungoma County.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

The enrollment, which was announced on June 16, sets the enrollment dates till 19.

During the three-day exercise, a number of steps will be involved, starting from online registration, all the way to the issuance of the lisences.

“Smart Driving License Enrollment services available from the 15th to 19th June, 2026 at Huduma Centre Kimilili,” stated Huduma Kenya.

📌 What You Need to Know

The enrollment process begins online, where applicants must first register or log in to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), and the Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS) portal using their National ID, KRA PIN, and phone number.

Once logged in, applicants select the Smart DL application option, confirm their personal details for accuracy, and pay the mandatory processing fee of Ksh3,050 via M-Pesa or other integrated platforms before booking a biometric appointment at a selected Huduma Centre.

On the scheduled appointment day, motorists will present themselves at the Kimilili Huduma Centre with their original National ID and, if upgrading, their old red booklet driving licence for verification by NTSA officials.

At the centre, officials capture the applicant's biometric data, including fingerprints, a digital photograph, and a signature, which are then securely embedded in the smart card's microchip to prevent fraud and ensure unique identification.

Once biometric enrollment is complete, applicants receive an SMS notification when their Smart DL is ready for collection, with processing times reportedly taking between five days and a few weeks, depending on the centre's workload.

However, Huduma Kenya reiterates that all these processes will be completed within 3 days, which is well below the stipulated 5 days.
