According to the County’s Citizen Budget Estimates released on May 11, Ksh32.89 billion has been allocated to recurrent expenditure, which includes salaries, operations, maintenance and service delivery.

This represents about 70 per cent of the total budget, while the remaining Ksh14.09 billion has been set aside for development projects and investments across various sectors.

Health will receive the largest allocation among all departments, with Ksh13.7 billion directed towards healthcare services, medicine supply, emergency and referral systems, hospital infrastructure, nutrition programmes and digitisation.

Environment, Water, Energy and Natural Resources have been allocated Ksh5.04 billion to address water supply challenges across the city, alongside waste management, sanitation and environmental sustainability programmes.

The County has outlined plans to drill 10 boreholes annually, install 285 water storage tanks, construct 10 ablution blocks, expand sewer coverage from 52 per cent to 65 per cent, and increase water supply to approximately 665,000 cubic metres per day.
