The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) has announced a major water supply interruption that will leave 14 Nairobi estates dry for close to 24 hours over pipeline leak.
🇰🇪 Breaking It Down
From a notice shared by the water agency on June 15, the shutdown is set to begin at 10pm on Monday, 15th June 2026, and will run until midday on Tuesday, 16th June 2026.
According to the company, the disruption has been necessitated by an ongoing leakage on the NCT-Kigoro-Gigiri-Kabete transmission pipeline at Gatundu.
“This is to inform you of a temporary water supply interruption that will affect several residential and commercial areas in the City,” stated Nairobi Water.
📌 What You Need to Know
“The interruption is due to a leakage on NCT-Kigoro-Gigiri-Kabete transmission pipeline at Gatundu.”
Among the areas set to feel the pinch are Westlands and its environs, Lavington, Kilimani, Upperhill and parts of Ngong Road.
Other estates expected to experience the outage include Madaraka, Langata, Kibera, Karen, Uthiru and Kangemi.
Kawangware residents have also been listed among those who should brace for the temporary interruption.
The disruption will further extend to areas served by MAVWASCO and Oloolaiser Water Company, widening the scope of the outage beyond Nairobi alone.
For many households and businesses, the timing means planning around the unavailability of water for cooking, cleaning and general use.
