The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company has flagged as fake a viral notification to applicants interested in 295 job openings at the company, which asks them to send money for interviews.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

In a notice on Friday, May 29, the company dismissed requesting applicants to send Ksh 100 via mobile money for "medical document processing" before an interview.

According to the company, it does not charge a fee to apply, process documents, or secure an interview.

"We have received reports of fake interview messages asking applicants to pay Ksh 100 via mobile money to 01***967 for 'medical document processing' before an interview," it stated.

📌 What You Need to Know

"Nairobi City Water & Sewerage Company will NEVER ask for money to apply, process documents, or secure an interview," the company added.

The company cautioned applicants against sending money or sharing personal documents with unknown individuals claiming to represent the organisation.

It further urged members of the public who receive such messages to report the matter immediately and verify any recruitment information through its official customer care line, 0703 080 000.

The clarification comes weeks after the company announced mass hiring of over 295 staff across various positions, asking interested Kenyans to apply.

The openings were classified into 31 categories, spanning drivers, engineers, artisans and legal officers.

The largest single category was Artisans in Water and Sewer work, with 80 vacancies, followed closely by Driver positions with 70 vacancies, accounting for more than half of all advertised vacancies.
