The National Police Service (NPS) has distanced itself from a notice circulating online that claims to announce mass recruitment for the Administration Police Service (APS).

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

In a notice issued on Saturday, August 8, the authority shared the poster, flagging it as fake and urging job seekers to disregard it.

According to the poster, Kenyans were invited to participate in a hiring exercise for the service in the Western region, allegedly to be held at Chavakali Boys High School.

The fake notice used the names and titles of senior officials to appear legitimate, attributing the purported exercise to APS Deputy Inspector General Gilbert Masengeli and presenting him as its sponsor.

📌 What You Need to Know

Among the claims made in the poster are opportunities for professional career development, leadership training and advancement.

NPS dismissed the poster, cautioning Kenyans against treating it as an official recruitment announcement or acting on the information contained in it.

The warning followed the circulation of the notice, which raised concerns that members of the public seeking employment in the police service could be misled.

Police recruitment exercises are conducted through authorised government processes, with official communication issued through official channels.

The fake notice emerges as government agencies continue to confront a rise in schemes targeting Kenyans seeking employment.

In July, three people in Bomet County were taken to court over claims that they could secure positions for their relatives at the NPS and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
