The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has explained what motorists seeking to change particulars of a vehicle need to do after a successful vehicle transfer.

🇰🇪 Breaking It Down

Responding to queries, NTSA said motorists cannot apply for the change of particulars of a private vehicle to a PSV immediately after the vehicle transfer is completed.

The clarification came after a motorist sought guidance on whether they could proceed with changing the particulars of a vehicle to Public Service Vehicle (PSV) status after completing a transfer.

According to the motorist, the vehicle had already appeared on their NTSA account following the transfer, but they were unable to proceed with the change of particulars, forcing them to seek NTSA's guidance.

📌 What You Need to Know

"I did a car transfer on Thursday, now car is on my account, but I can't change particulars to PSV," the motorist lamented.

In response, the authority clarified that the fact that a particular vehicle already appears in your NTSA account does not necessarily mean you can proceed with the change of particulars.

According to NTSA, motorists must first wait for the logbook to be printed before proceeding with the change of particulars application.

"Once the logbook is printed, you can proceed with the change of particulars application," NTSA said.

Motorists undertaking vehicle transfers are therefore advised to ensure the new logbook has been printed before attempting to initiate a change of particulars application.

NTSA's clarification comes months after the authority launched the electronic logbook (eLogbook) that provides motorists with digital logbooks, eliminating the traditional paper-based document.
